Helping students persist in and graduate from higher education is a top priority in Utah. With a booming economy and employers demanding an educated workforce, Utah institutions of higher education are rising to meet this goal. In 2013, the Utah State Board of Regents passed a College Completion resolution to increase the percentage of students who persist in and graduate from higher education; in 2016, the Board included and expanded these strategies in its 10 year strategic plan, Utah a State of Opportunity. These strategies align well with CCA’s Game Changers such as 30 in 3, an adaptation of the 15 to Finish campaign; plateau tuition; math pathways; high impact practices; reverse transfer; and graduation maps that identify critical courses along a guided pathway that defines meta-major clusters, appropriate math early in college, and block scheduling to make courses more accessible (Regents, 2016).
