As Deputy Commissioner for Academic Affairs, Innovation, and Student Success for the Louisiana Board of Regents, Randall works with Board members and the state’s four college systems to develop higher education policy and practices responsive to state educational and workforce needs. This includes coordinating and implementing student success initiatives identified in the Board’s Master Plan, helping build an accessible and cohesive postsecondary system facilitating academic and career success, and developing statewide strategies to improve access to and achievement through college-level study. Prior to joining the Board office in November 2019, Randall served as Chief Academic Officer for the Idaho State Board of Education. In this role his work focused on helping facilitate a more seamless P-20 educational continuum, In this role he developed policy supporting greater affordability, credit for prior learning, transfer articulation, math pathways, and remedial instruction among other student-centered priorities. Prior to this work he served in various capacities in academic affairs, enrollment management, and student development. From working with large public research universities, to supporting community college collaborations and small liberal arts college environments, he shares over 15 years in higher education to help improve the experience and success for a diverse range of students. This experience includes roles with the University of Kansas, University of Central Florida, University of Arkansas, and Randolph-Macon College. From implementing balanced scorecard methodologies to integrating data analytics in student success initiatives, his team’s efforts have been recognized at regional and national levels by professional organizations for developing best practices towards student retention and graduation efforts. Randall holds a BA in Political Science, MPA, and EdD in Higher Education Administration, all from the University of Arkansas (Fayetteville).
