4Cs implemented a proactive advising model in 2015. Faculty & professional advisors utilize a case management approach allowing all matriculated students to have an assigned academic advisor. Proactive advising efforts over the last three years have contributed to a 3% increase in Fall-to-Fall retention for degree-seeking students. Right now our campus is in the process of implementing new academic planning technology (through Jenzabar). We look forward to a campus-wide implementation of technology-enabled advising in Fall 2018 which will revolutionize an advisor’s ability to provide accurate, dynamic academic maps for all students. Increased use of technology for advising is expected to continue moving that retention needle.
