Kathrine has built a strong reputation as an influencer for innovating education through the use of engagement technology. Her work as part of the Tennessee Board of Regents consortium for online education and engagement technology helped to shape the adoption of mobile technology and applications for learning under the administration of Dr. Robbie K. Melton. Kathrine worked as a member of the team that would build the policies and practices for the TBR online mobile app library as well as best practices for inclusion of mobile technology and apps in the online, hybrid and face-to-face classroom.
A pioneer in lecture capture best practices and lecture capture technology development, Kathrine has worked as a member of professional consultation teams to shape products and technologies to better support teaching and learning for P-20. When Kathrine began her work in engagement technology, there were no job descriptions and no clear best practices for the development and use of many of the technologies that have become common place in online learning. As an early adopter for tech in education, she has a knack for spotting ‘what’s next’ and what will last. Her work as a leader or key member of implementation and development teams for consortiums and higher education are informed by a strong computer science background as well as communication and education theory. She has presented at multiple conferences and still provides consultation to the engagement technology community.
A desire to shape best practices and policy on a larger scale led Kathrine to seek a new path in academic leadership. Her work with faculty development, accreditation, and academic audit teams broadened her understanding of the challenges facing higher education and institutional leaders. Currently, she works to lead and manage organizational change in higher education through data informed decision making and strategic planning and initiatives.
