Forces For Change: Policy, Perspective & Practice
We believe higher education has a choice. We can choose to see problems differently, adopt new practices, and change policy, or we can sit back and let systemic challenges persist. We can either reflect the racial, social, and economic injustices of society—or we can be an engine of equity, prosperity, and hope.

I am a General Counselor at Rio Hondo College. As a matter of fact, I attended Rio Hondo College before transferring to a four-year, so I understand some of the experiences our students go through! I adhere to a Gestalt counseling approach. At the core of gestalt therapy is the holistic view that people are intricately linked to and influenced by their environments and that all people strive toward growth and balance. When I’m not counseling or teaching, I enjoy frequenting the gym, or visiting museums throughout the Greater Los Angeles Area. I also enjoy going to concerts and music festivals (e.g. Coachella, Outsidelands, Lollapalooza etc.) I received my bachelors in communications from Cal Poly Pomona in 2013, and my masters in educational counseling from the University of Southern California [Fight ON!] in 2015. I am currently working on my doctoral degree at Cal State Long Beach.
