Fawad Rauf is an experienced engineer, zealous educator, and innovative researcher. For the past 35 years, he has taken various roles serving the engineering community; as a professor, corporate manager and community worker.
He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering in 1982 from NUST, Pakistan. He then went on to acquire further education from Boston University, where he earned a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Systems Engineering, in 1988 and 1993 respectively. He focused his research work on nonlinear processes and published, extensively, his findings on Adaptive Filtering, Neural Networks, and Chaos Theory.
His service in academia, as a passionate teacher, encompasses a unique mix of pedagogy
and andragogy. This enables him to effectively develop critical thinking skills and a service learning attitude in his students. He has also led engineering and business institutes, where he designed and delivered curricula that were student-centric and aligned with the needs of industry.
His participation in the engineering industry includes serving as the CTO of Streaming Networks, an international technology solutions firm. In his time with Streaming Networks, he had the opportunity to lead multidisciplinary teams, build end-to-end systems like video phones, develop embedded software, and test to ensure product certification throughout the development life cycle.
He has also performed in the corporate sector as the CIO of OGDCL, a large scale national oil company. At OGDCL, he accomplished a complete redesign of the legacy information systems, by establishing a new state-of-the-art infrastructure for revamping the information displays for the corporate management.
Recently he has been working as an off-line, quinary-level, advisor. He has been assisting the Dallas/Fort Worth student community in a wide range of subjects and areas of knowledge. He enjoys walking, reading and playing with her two-year-old granddaughter.
