In her 28-plus years at Johnson, Ellen Hill has directed the Center for Service Learning, created the Certificate in Nonprofit Management and served as director of experiential learning with a focus on creating an emphasis on civic engagement, experiential education and community partnerships.
Over the years, she worked with countless student leaders active in service, leadership and social justice.
“I have had some of the best jobs in higher education,” Ellen says. “I have the honor to work with passionate, talented people who believe they can be catalysts for social change. Every year students amaze me with their achievements that make positive changes in our world.”
As a part-time faculty member, she has taught Senior Seminar in Psychology, A Call to Action (first-year seminar), Social Solutions, Multicultural Psychology, Community, Organizing and Leadership, Principles of Service Learning, and Leadership Through Service Learning.
Her successful grants include a Behavior Interventionist Training and Internship Program, Vermont State Colleges Nonprofit Management Workforce Development Project and numerous student leadership development grants and community partnership grants.
