As a Full-time faculty member in the English Department at a Technical College, Galvan aims demonstrate excellent teaching skills to help her students’ succeed. In addition to teaching Reading and English courses for the College’s underprepared learner initiative, Galvan also teaches via online technology an array of courses from College Composition, English Literature to Creative Writing.
Galvan holds a bachelor’s degree from UW-Parkside in Spanish Literature, a Master of Science degree in Education from UW-Platteville, reading specialist training from Viterbo University, and a Master of Arts degree in English with a creative writing emphasis from Mount Mary College. All told, under the Wisconsin Technical College System, Galvan holds certifications to teach Spanish/foreign language, Communications, Reading, English, ELL, Career Education and College Success Strategies.
Furthermore, Galvan has used her bilingual abilities to contribute to Spanglish magazine in Milwaukee, Aqui Milwaukee magazine and other publications.
In 2006, Galvan was recognized by her peers in receiving the Hispanic Excellence in Education Award by the Racine Hispanic Business Professionals Association of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. In 2015 Galvan was named Distinguished Alumni by the University of Wisconsin Parkside.
