Chris was named Dean of Math and Science and Arapahoe Community College in 2021. While new to ACC, Chris has seven years of experience in the Colorado Community College System.
Previously, Chris served as the Program Director for Engineering, Technology & Media Arts for Colorado Career and Technical Education at CCCS. As a program director, Chris provides technical support to districts and colleges regarding curriculum and programming that lead to high-skill, high-wage, and in-demand job opportunities in Colorado.
While at the Community College of Aurora, Chris was recognized for his outstanding service to both the institution and students by being named the Faculty of the Year for 2015-2016. His passion to make course material and the college experience accessible and understandable to all students continues to drive him today.
While at Community College of Aurora, Chris served as the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs for the School of Professional Studies and Sciences. He helped oversee the Career and Technical Education and STEM programs throughout the college. His service includes several committees that are devoted to student success, including leadership in the Guided Pathways and co-chairing the Hispanic Serving Institution committees.
As the Mathematics Department Chair at Community College of Aurora, Chris implemented corequisite education in college-level mathematics courses, regardless of placement. During this time, Chris was recognized as a Content Expert and named a Fellow for Complete College America in 2016.
As a first-generation college student, Chris understands the challenges students face trying to navigate the collegiate system. This firsthand experience helps Chris look for cost-effective ways to help students succeed both in and outside of the classroom.
