I am a doctoral student at Walden University. I am preparing my dissertation research on the relationship between the challenges that impede student retention and academic success for first-generation college students at a Historically Black College and University (HBCU). As an educator, preparing college and career ready high school students is so important. As an alumnus of a HBCU, I am interested in supporting the efforts of retention and retainment to degree completion.
