Brittany Francis, Ph.D.
Brittany is a proud woman of color and native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; a boiled crawfish connoisseur; an HGTV-inspired, but unofficial interior designer; wine enthusiast; former Pineapple Fantana (“Wanna Fanta”); only child, and loving wife to an Army veteran and mother of three children. After experiencing systemic obstacles in college, Brittany pursued a career in communications to eliminate the inadequacies of information that are often shared with minoritized students. For Brittany, transparency is important. She innately enjoys dismantling complex language and filtering it to read clearly for anyone. She has a passion for listening and amplifying students’ stories – from their identity and college experiences – to discover and share what works and what leads to student success. Brittany obtained a terminal degree to remind first-generation and low-income students of color that a college degree is an option, it is worth it, and it is the access key to living a robust, healthy, and enjoyable life. Brittany’s 14 years of strategic communications experience include roles as the Public Information and Communications Director for the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance, a program of the Louisiana Board of Regents (BoR), and Communications Manager for the BoR. Brittany holds a Ph.D. from Southern University and A&M College, a historically black college, in Education Policy. Read Official Bio
