Brandon was once a social worker at a high school. He loved that job and felt he made a difference with students. The problem was that while he could point to students who made great changes in their lives, there were still too many who were not graduating from high school, let alone going on to or completing college. And this was in a district that served primarily Hispanic, low-income students whose parents did not go to college. This is when Brandon started to shift his focus from individuals to systems to make a difference at a larger level, all while centering equity. He then gained incredible experience and insights from almost a decade working at an urban community college that propelled him to think even more about policy and advocacy for scaling practice. Driving Brandon’s work is his foundational belief in the role of education as a public good to improve society and as a vehicle to transform individual lives. ​​

Originally from Arizona, Brandon now calls Colorado his home. He finds joy in spending time with family, taking piano lessons, and getting outdoors. Oddly, many people think he is a very serious person, whereas others find it hard to believe that anyone takes him seriously at all. He has many secret interests and skills, but if he listed them here, they would no longer be secret.
