Dr. Jamia Stokes has 20 years of experience in postsecondary education. She currently serves as an Alliance Engagement Director for Complete College America (CCA). She previously served as Tennessee SCORE’s Vice President of Postsecondary Programs, where she played a pivotal role in advancing statewide initiatives related to postsecondary access and attainment. Previously, she held leadership positions at Rhodes College and The University of Tennessee in a variety of capacities, including recruitment and retention, academic and career advising, and student success. She was the recipient of the UT Knoxville Chancellor’s citation for Excellence in Academic Advising and the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) Region 3 Excellence in Advising award.

She earned a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she conducted research on the sense of belonging of first-generation students. She earned both a master’s degree in public administration and a bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga.

Beyond her professional achievements, Jamia is deeply involved in advancing education equity in her community. She serves on the advisory board for two K-12 schools in Memphis, and she holds a position on the University of Tennessee Alumni Association, Board of Governors.

Dr. Jamia Stokes and her husband, Dr. Eric Stokes, are proud parents of two children.
