The Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) was the first U.S. territory in the Pacific Region to join 33 other states in the Complete College America (CCA) Alliance of States in 2014.

To increase college completion rates, Northern Marianas College has provided accelerated sections in remedial English and math courses, revised the awarding of Advance Placement (AP) credits, partnered with the state public school system to launch a dual enrollment program, administered early placement testing at local high schools, and capped degree credit requirements at 120 for bachelor degree programs and 60 for associate degree programs.

Furthermore, in keeping with recommended game changing strategies, the College adopted a banded tuition rate that allows students who are enrolled for 12 credits to enroll in another 1 – 3 credits at no additional cost thus incentivizing them to take on additional credits and thereby reducing time to graduation.
