Theresa L. C. Hammonds began her tenure in higher education over 10 years ago at Bronx Community College (BCC). It is in there Career and Transfer office that she begin serving transfer students. In that capacity, she became privy to the transfer narratives of students; and having been a transfer student as well, became instantly resolved to work in higher education as a transfer focused professional. Theresa has also served as an advisor and transcript evaluator at BCC. These roles combined provided the perfect mélange of skills needed to perform the duties she is charged with at Hostos Community College, where she is now the Coordinator of activity and Transfer Advisor. Theresa is also in the dissertation phase of earning a doctorate degree in Education Leadership, Community College Leadership at Rowan University, Glassboro, NJ. Her research interest are focused on understanding the transfer barriers of STEM aspirant students; as well as, how institutions can improve policy to provide seamless transfer opportunities.
