Caterina Bristol is a music professor and associate dean for the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Alabama State University. She supports and promotes the development of students from diverse backgrounds to help build the next generation of leadership in the arts and higher education. She has presented on the topics of diversity in graduate music programs, and 21st century musicianship, and the use of technology for under-resourced institutions at several national and international conferences. She coordinates an HBCU Composers’ Concert, featuring the music of composers from historically black colleges and universities. She works with accreditation projects at ASU and serves as an evaluative visitor for the National Association of Schools of Music. She serves as the Southern Division Chair for the National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors and is a Fellow of the Sphinx Organization SphinxConnect program. Caterina earned degrees in music performance and pedagogy from the Ohio State University and the University of Northern Colorado. She also holds a Master of Library Science from Texas Woman’s University.
