Michael L. Faulkner, Ph.D., MBA, CSA
Michael Faulkner spent six formative years learning leadership, management and organizational style the U.S Marine Corps way as a combat NCO. Michael then spent 33 years in a variety of leadership and management (“coaching”) positions with Fortune 500 firms including Dun & Bradstreet, a major nonprofit trade association – The Direct Marketing Association (DMA) and entrepreneur start-ups as well as helping run the family business.
For three decades Michael has been a pioneer in what he calls “accelerated strategy” – using customized and off the shelf tactical solutions architecture to take visionary ideas to the bottom line quickly. In 1975 He was the creator of Dun & Bradstreet’s first multi-channel marketing strategy, which became the model for a department that today generates more than $50 million dollars in annual sales. In 1983 He created the DMA’s first in-house, multi-channel, on-going membership development and retention program. Michael also became the first DMA staff member ever to receive the CAE certification and a Master’s degree in Direct Marketing. He also created the DMA chapter network, which now adds over $1 million dollars annually to DMA’s bottom line. Michael won the American Society of Association Executive’s Retention Marketer of the Year in 1989 with an innovative money back membership satisfaction guarantee program.

Michael believes education is a journey not a destination and he began his journey by receiving an associates’ degree with honors from the St. Louis Community College in 1970. He was selected for membership into Phi Theta Kappa and the Golden Key International Honor Society. Michael Graduated Cum Laude from Rutgers University and attended on a fencing & baseball scholarship. He was twice national athletic dueling champion He received his MBA from the New York Institute of Technology and a MS degree in Direct Marketing Communications from NYU. He received his Ph.D. in Organization Management from Union Institute and University in Cincinnati in 2005. He was awarded the DeVry University 2010 PRIDE Award, The Master Teacher Award for Keller Graduate School, 2010. He received The DeVry Innovative and Creative Teacher of the year, 2009, he is a past recipient of the New York Society of Association Executives (NYSAE) Outstanding Achievement Award, 2007; the Direct Marketing Association of NYC Silver Apple Award 2003; the American Society of Association Executives Retention Marketer of the Year, 1986; Rutgers-Newark Hall of Fame, 1989; a 1972 Rotary International Fellow, and he is a member of MENSA. Michael has twice taught Keller summer abroad sessions in Europe. He has met and spoken to consumers, entrepreneurs, investors, business and political leaders in more than twenty-two countries.

Michael’s hobbies include karate, shooting, boxing, and writing. He has published 20 books, he has been published in three peer review journals, dozens of magazines, newsletters, web sites, blogs, and a half dozen white papers, including one that was circulated to all elected members of congress and the major media outlets, he has written two one-act plays which were both performed in local theaters.
