René Cintrón
Chief Academic Affairs Officer
Louisiana Community and Technical College System
I serve as the Chief Academic Affairs Officer with the Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS). The LCTCS manages 13 public technical and community colleges across Louisiana. Last year, LCTCS colleges collectively graduated over 28,800 students (the largest graduating class in LCTCS history) and served over 131,000 students in three areas: degree programs, workforce training, and adult education. In my role, I ensure that instructional programs in these three areas adequately prepare students for the workforce and/or academic transferability. I also provide direct leadership to institutional effectiveness and new markets units. For instance, I have led successful efforts standardizing methods for collecting, assessing, reporting, forecasting for Our Louisiana 2020: Building the Workforce of Tomorrow (comprehensive goals put forth by the Board of Supervisors), developing several system-wide articulation and scholarship agreements with four-year universities across Louisiana, and working with the Louisiana National Guard and the LA/MS U.S Army Recruiting Battalion to provide expanded opportunities for veterans to earn college credentials.
