The completion efforts of the state of Tennessee are driven by the state’s ambition educational attainment goal: the Drive to 55. The Drive to 55 states that by the year 2025, 55 percent of working age Tennesseans will hold a postsecondary credential. Postsecondary attainment is imperative no only for the well-being of the citizens of Tennessee, but for the economy of the state at large. By developing a skilled workforce, Tennessee will provide industry and business will a strong employee base to develop and expand. Completion is supported and incentivized in Tennessee through a variety of initiatives, including Tennessee Promise and outcomes-based funding.
