Ebony Turner, PH.D.
Ebony is a proud African American woman, faux French-speaking, and native of Nouveu Orléans (New Orleans); loving daughter ; “International” Soul line dancer (Punta Cana was her latest stop), with a love for mathematics. In her spare time, Ebony enjoys reading, shopping, watching action movies and competition shows (like Project Runway), and loves to make others laugh and full of her ‘made from love’ desserts.
Being raised by a strong, and educated Black woman who worked in higher education, Ebony witnessed the need for a college degree. Growing up in a city that is rich in culture but also clearly the picture of a struggling minoritized population, earning enough credentials was her goal to survive and live a secure life. Later in life her goal progressed to helping others who looked like her do the same.
Ebony’s 25 years of experience include roles as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics, Interim Dean of University College and Assistant Director of Operations and Training. She holds a Bachelors of Science from Xavier University and Masters of Science from the University of New Orleans in Mathematics. Ebony’s coup de grâce, her Ph.D. in Urban Higher Education Administration, was earned from Jackson State University, a historically black college in Mississippi.
