Brian holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, a Master of Public Administration degree and Ed.D. from the University of Montana (UM). His research focuses on academic advising and undergraduate student retention. Brian serves as the coordinator of professional academic advising at UM, working with UM administration, advising directors and school and college leadership to ensure students receive high quality and consistent professional advising services. He is responsible for managing professional advising assessment and training. In addition, Brian oversees the Office for Student Success units that collectively serve as the hub of academic support for UM students. He co-chaired UM’s taskforce charged with implementing and scaling co-requisite support courses in math and writing and led UM’s development and publication of degree maps. He has also been involved in guided pathway-related conversations across the Montana University System.
