Karla DeCuir is the Senior Director of Enrollment Management and External Affairs at University of Houston-Victoria (UHV) at Katy. In her role, she oversees the recruiting efforts, external relations, and strategic partnerships for UHV Katy. She completed a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, an MBA and a Master in Management with a concentration in Human Resources Management, and she is currently working on completing the Executive Doctor of Education in Professional Leadership with an emphasis in Special Populations at the University of Houston. In 2016, she founded Student Guidance Group, a non-profit organization focused on providing career guidance, mentorship, and professional skills development to high school students. She has held various roles in management, business development, enrollment management, and external affairs. Karla is the recipient of the University of Phoenix President’s award and the Texas Diversity Council’s DiversityFIRST award. Her current community involvement include serving on the board of the Katy Technology and Education Foundation, serving as the President of the Texas Diversity Council for the Gulf Coast, chairing the Young Women’s Leadership Symposium, chairing the Katy EDC’s Diversity Taskforce, and serving on various committees including the Katy EDC’s Leadership committee and the West Houston Association Education and Workforce committee. She is passionate about education and about empowering young women to step up to leadership roles.
