I’ve worked in education for ten years, 9 of which have been at the Milwaukee Academy of Science (MAS), an independent charter school serving roughly 1100 students, 94% or whom qualify for free or reduced lunch prices, and 99% of whom are African-American. At MAS, I was in the classroom for three years as an ELA middle school teacher, served as the achievement director and principal in the high school for three years, and am in my third year as the Chief Academic Officer. Supporting students in graduating from high school and pursuing the completion of degree programs after high school in order to break the cycle of generational poverty is my passion and purpose.
