I have taught math for 18 years full time. As college student, I started tutoring to make rent and eat. My goal was to do anything but teach. I graduated from Marshall with a bachelor of science in mathematics and started working at the Marshall Community and Technical College (now known as MountWest) as an instructor in the Academic Skills Center and fell in love with teaching students and seeing them have their “aha” moments. After recieveing my master’s of art in mathematics from Marshall University, I taught at Marshall. However, after two years, I missed working with students from the community and technical college. Since being here at MountWest I have been honored to help students learn how to be successful and enjoy not only math but the learning process itself. I now split my duties between teaching and chairing.
