Assistant Dean of Freshman Experience

Dr. Robin Hensel is the Assistant Dean for Freshman Experience in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources at West Virginia University. With degrees in mathematics and education, she has worked in engineering teams, project management, and administration as a Mathematician and Computer Systems Analyst for the U. S. Department of Energy and taught mathematics, statistics, computer science, and fundamental engineering courses in three universities. Her work has been recognized with teaching and advising awards. Currently, she leads a faculty team dedicated to providing first year engineering students with a high-quality, challenging, and engaging educational experience to facilitate their transition to university life and prepare them for success in their majors and future careers. Active in ASEE, she was awarded the 2015 ASEE First-year Programs Division Distinguished Service Award. Currently, her funded research focuses on diversity and persistence in engineering.
