Arizona’s commitment to higher education is centered around access and success, with an attainment goal of 60% of working-age Arizonans holding a degree or certificate by 2030. Through three public universities, ten community college districts, and hundreds of private institutions and technical training providers, Arizona seeks to close institutional performance gaps and meet the demands of labor market trends. The Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR) governs the state universities, and Arizona Community College Coordinating Council (AC4) provides support and coordination of the community college districts in Arizona. Expanding access for Arizona students, promoting new knowledge and discovery, driving benefit to Arizona’s citizens and maximizing the State’s investment in higher education have been central to ABOR’s mission. AC4 is working to ensure that the state’s community colleges are the leaders in education and workforce training across the state.
Note: The Arizona Board of Regents joined the CCA Alliance as a consortium member in 2017. In 2025, Governor Katie Hobbs signed a letter confirming Arizona as a state member of the Alliance.
