The West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission and the West Virginia Community and Technical College System successfully have implemented and are working to scale a number of Complete College America’s Game Changers. The results are making a difference in the lives of West Virginians, helping thousands of first-generation college students to complete their studies on time and get on the road to high-wage, successful careers.

College completion is even more important during tough economic times by providing hope for students who have struggled with traditional remedial coursework and saving thousands of dollars by helping them earn their credentials on time and within budget.

The results speak for themselves. Since implementing co-requisite remediation to scale, West Virginia has seen unbelievable improvements in passage rates compared with the traditional non-credit remedial courses. And, after just a couple years, nearly 10 percent more students statewide are taking the 15 credit hours or more per semester to complete on time.

The Game Changers are helping West Virginia meet its goals of increased graduation rates, lower student loan debt and a stronger in-state workforce pool that helps to attract and retain employers, and create better jobs for West Virginians.
