Complete College America Senior Vice President Bruce Vandal today congratulated the City of Indianapolis and Mayor Joe Hogsett on the launch of Indy Achieves, a citywide College Promise program that pairs the guarantee of access with a focus on completion. CCA Vice President of Strategy Blake Johnson, who is also an Indianapolis city-county councilman and a co-chair of the Indianapolis Promise Task Force, played an integral role in the design process for Indy Achieves.
“Cities and states across the country are launching free-tuition programs that promise residents the opportunity to complete college. Indianapolis leaders have successfully established a model that intends to keep that promise,” said Vandal. “Indy Achieves incorporates services and supports for low-income and adult students that our organization advocates for and that will ultimately make it possible for more people in this community to earn degrees and credentials of value. Stan Jones, our founder and an architect of Indiana’s 21st Century Scholars program, would be proud to see this continued commitment to improving access and completion taking root in CCA’s hometown.”
In April, Complete College America, The Promise Campaign and Achieving the Dream released Promise with a Purpose, a report that lays out a framework for Promise programs “Built for Completion.”
