I am the Director of Composition at Prairie View A & M University (PVAMU or PV), an HBCU. I have taught Composition I and II, Technical Writing/Communications, and Humanities at PV; Houston Community College–Alief Hayes and at Lone Star College Fairbanks, Cy-Fair, and Tomball; Composition, Technical Writing, and Arthurian Literature at Texas A & M University at Galveston; and Composition and Technical Writing/Communications at Blinn College in Bryan, Texas. I have a Master’s in Liberal Arts–English with thesis option from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas; and a Master in Public Administration degree from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin. My undergraduate degree is a B.A. in Plan II, the interdisciplinary honors program with a concentration in French language. Prior to academia, I had careers in human resources at the Texas Employment Commission and the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and in the management of small ($1 million dollar budget in the late 1980’s-mid 1990’s) non-profits such as a private high school and an agency that provided services such as a teen runaway shelter.
