Complete College America (CCA) released information today on the 2018 Technology Seal of Approval, a program recognizing software providers that leverage technology to support early student momentum and college completion. Now in its third year, the program will include requirements for the most comprehensive solutions to date, while expanding the initiative to include a new tier of awards for software providers.

For the first time, Complete College America will offer Technology Trailblazer awards to recognize outstanding achievement in the areas of time, choice and structure. These three categories encompass essential elements of CCA college completion strategies, including early career and major exploration, informed decision-making and supports for keeping students on track for timely completion.

The 2018 Technology Seal of Approval, the top award available, will represent a pursuit of the most comprehensive technology solution to date. To be considered for the Seal of Approval award, providers must meet the requirements for all three of the Technology Trailblazer awards in addition to demonstrating game-changing work in empowering prospective students’ access to tools and systems in order to effectively explore and choose institutions and majors.

“We know early momentum is key to student success, and technology can play a vital role in putting students on the path to graduation,” said CCA Vice President Dhanfu Elston. “By raising the requirements for the Technology Seal of Approval and continuing to urge software providers to reach higher, we hope to encourage greater innovation that will ultimately lead more students to graduate and move into fulfilling careers.”

Complete College America launched the Seal of Approval program in 2016 to signal to colleges and universities that implementation of guided pathway strategies could be effectively supported by innovative technology solutions. The award was also designed to spur software providers toward research-proven best practices for boosting college completion.

The Seal of Approval advisory board will again oversee the program evaluation and award process. Winners of the 2018 Seal of Approval will be highlighted in December at Complete College America’s Annual Convening in Chicago.
