Complete College America is accepting proposals for breakout sessions during its 2019 Annual Convening.

Where: Arizona Grand Resort Phoenix, AZ
When: December 12-14, 2019

Each year, CCA’s Annual Convening brings together institutional leaders, system heads, and policy-makers. The request for proposal process is highly selective and we encourage applicants to carefully review the selection criteria and priority alignment. Strong proposals should align with one or more of the following: state policy and legislative applications, achieving equitable outcomes for students of color and those from income-qualified backgrounds, and new innovations that can be replicated to accelerate the college completion movement.

Proposals should also consider aligning to one or more of the following:

  • Scaling What Works: Explain how your state, system or region scaled and implemented one or more of the Game Changer strategies through practical application techniques. Proposed sessions must demonstrate how the Game Changer strategies increased attainment and equity metrics in your state, system or region using data and evidence.
  • Pursuing New Ideas: Explain how innovative thinking has played an important role in your student success initiatives and policy and advocacy efforts. Proposed sessions must demonstrate how this thinking has advanced your student success efforts and produced measurable outcomes.
  • Together: Share how your state, system or region has leveraged creative partnerships and collaborations or have aligned CCA Game Changer implementation with other complementary initiatives that have fueled student success.

SESSION FORMAT

Presentations will vary from 60-75 minutes, should be dynamic (featuring data visualizations, video, student testimonials etc.) Focus should be placed on delivering actionable information, allowing time for participant questions or interaction. Select sessions may be considered for a workshop session. Workshop sessions are longer and designed to walk participants through an interactive activity. Participants will depart extended workshops with action plans and templates.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Selected session proposals will provide attendees with action-oriented knowledge and practical application of the Game Changers. Proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Content: Proposed session increases participants’ knowledge about implementing or advocating for strategies that are results driven and focus on impact.
  • Alignment: Proposed session aligns with the theme and session content is evidence-based and able to be replicated or scaled.
  • Experience: Presenter has proven experience with implementing and scaling one or more Game Changers or can demonstrate success in the areas of innovation and collaboration.
  • Learning Outcomes: Proposed session clearly identifies key learning outcomes and uses clear data, metrics and evidence.
  • Practical Application: Proposed session provides actionable information and tools that can be implemented to demonstrate impact.
